My first official week of class has
finally started! It’s my first week and I have already had the opportunity to
hear some incredible speakers that are very knowledgeable in their faith.
Don Ford, our first speaker of the
week, talked to us about setting goals. Each goal should be: God centered,
written out, attainable but God sized, measurable, time sensitive, clear,
concise, and shared with other people. I have never been one to set goals so I
found these eight steps very useful. Using these guidelines I made a list of
goals and I am excited to follow through with them. In learning about goals,
I’ve found a way to make time everyday to spend with God.
Our second speaker, Jay Holden,
spoke about using our strengths to work more efficiently with others. We first took
an online survey to identify our strengths and I was surprised when the results
described me perfectly. According to the survey my top five strengths are
includer, developer, strategic, empathy, and positivity. Mr. Holden taught me that our spiritual gifts
are the what of God’s plan and the strengths are how we are going to carry out
that plan. He explained how to use my strengths and that it is not necessary
for everyone to be well rounded, because we have to allow others to use their
strengths and focus on what we can do not what we can’t.
Our third and final speaker of the
week was Darrel Shemwell. Mr. Shemwell introduced us to Biblical study tools
that will help us go deeper into God’s word so that we can tackle tough
apologetical questions. I am excited to use these resources to dig deeper into
my studies.
The past few days have been a great
start to this new adventure. I have already begun to form friendships that I
believe will last a lifetime and I am so exited to grow with these people over
the next eight months.
